The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience but where he stands in times of challenge and controversy.—Martin Luther King Jr.
I’m excited to announce we will again be publishing a monthly Flashlight to all our members. I want to personally thank member Cecelia Wilbanks who has generously volunteered to publish the Flashlight on behalf of Denver 17. The costs associated with distributing the Flashlight can be substantially reduced if we distribute it electronically via e-mail as opposed to by mail. If you are receiving the Flashlight by mail we do not have an updated e-mail address for you. Please contact our Denver #17 Secretary Stephanie Martens at the Lodge (303) 455-ELKS (3557) or to provide us with an updated e-mail address for Lodge communications.
Along with the rest of the economy impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Denver 17 finances have suffered as a result of not being open from March -June as well as having our Bingo Sessions at Slammers Bingo also closed during that same time. Our Lodge’s two primary sources of revenue, the lifeline of Denver 17, is Bingo and Lodge Membership Dues. Now that Bingo sessions are again open, I’m calling on all Denver 17 members to try and volunteer time at our Monday and Friday Bingo sessions, 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 a.m. Slammers Bingo, 1884 S Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80232. If you can volunteer 1 day a month that would be a huge help. Please contact Garratt Phillips to volunteer, email@example.com .
We have roughly 100 delinquent members of Denver 17 who have not yet paid this year’s membership dues. You can easily pay your membership dues online through our website, https://www.denverelks.org/support-us or mail your check to Denver Elks 17, 2475 W. 26th Ave., Denver, CO 80211. Regular membership dues is $110.40 and $43.00 for Life Members. If you need financial assistance please contact firstname.lastname@example.org .
The Lodge is open for outdoor seating. In accordance with the States and Denver County safe distancing guidelines we have opened our parking lot to patio seating and service on Friday nights. Come down and visit. For all indoor events and the Clubroom, the Denver Elks Lodge is in compliance with all restaurant and meeting space CDPHE guidelines. Additionally, we have implemented extra cleaning shifts and staff for all events and meetings. Hand sanitizer and masks are readily available for anyone entering the Lodge. For your safety, contact tracing sign in and a waiver is required for all who enter lodge.
For all of us, practice social distancing; where a mask; wash your hands frequently; stay healthy; eat well; take a walk outside; count your blessings; be patient with those you love and who love you; take a deep breath; pray and don’t forget to laugh.
See our list of special events and initiations coming in August below. We are excited to initiate a new round of new members and thank the pending initiates and sponsors for their patience these past few months.
Hope to see you soon.
